SMC induction training module recognised by Royal College of Physicians

An induction training module developed to support NDC and SMC committee members and SMC staff has been awarded Continued Professional Development (CPD) status by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (RCP).

The module, which covers SMC’s remit and processes, provides an overview of the key concepts of health technology assessment. During five sessions, users learn about the evidence presented in the SMC Detailed Advice Document and other components of the SMC decision-making process. The module was developed in partnership with the University of Glasgow, who also hosts the resource.

The RCP endorsement means physicians who complete the module can now be awarded a certificate and distance learning credits that count towards their annual CPD requirement.
