Public partners
The SMC Committee has three public partners, volunteers who work as part of our Public Involvement team. They are full voting members of the SMC Committee, who, as a member of the public, use their judgement on the value of a new medicine to NHSScotland.
Like other committee members, our public partners read each medicine submission before each meeting (each of which can be up to several hundred pages long), and fully participate in discussions during each meeting. Each public partner is also a member of our Public Involvement Network (PIN) Advisory Group.
They are also activity involved in a wide variety of other areas of SMC work – from participating in our Patient and Clinician Engagement (PACE) meetings to helping us recruit members of staff.
Our public partners are Alex Jones, Eileidh McIntosh and Linda Gunn.
