Advice
following an abbreviated submission:
dorzolomide / timolol preservative-free unit-dose eye drops (COSOPT®) are accepted for restricted use in NHS Scotland for the treatment of elevated intra-ocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma and pseudo-exfoliative glaucoma when topical beta-blocker monotherapy is not sufficient.
This preparation is substantially more expensive than the equivalent multi-dose eye drop preparation and should be restricted to use in patients for whom a combination of these two agents is appropriate and who have proven sensitivity to the preservative benzalkonium chloride.
