Advice
following a full submission:
ertapenem (Invanz) is accepted for restricted use within NHS Scotland for the prophylaxis of surgical site infection following elective colorectal surgery in adults.
It is effective in reducing the incidence of surgical site infection, although there are currently no comparisons with regimens used in Scotland. It is restricted to use in line with local antimicrobial policies and Microbiologist advice.
