Following a resubmission

bemiparin 25,000 IU/ml (Zibor) is not recommended for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of established deep vein thrombosis, with or without pulmonary embolism, during the acute phase.

Greater numbers of patients had a reduction in thrombus size with bemiparin than unfractionated heparin, although bemiparin has not been compared with other low molecular weight heparins.

The manufacturer did not present a sufficiently robust economic analysis to gain acceptance by SMC.
