nusinersen (Spinraza®) is accepted for restricted use within NHSScotland.
Indication under review: for the treatment of 5q Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
SMC restriction: patients with pre-symptomatic and symptomatic type 1 (infantile-onset) and type 2 or type 3 (later-onset) 5q SMA.
Nusinersen 50 mg and 28 mg solution for injection are indicated for a high dose regimen, with limited net budget impact compared with the 12 mg low dose regimen.
This advice applies only in the context of approved NHSScotland Patient Access Scheme (PAS) arrangements delivering the cost-effectiveness results upon which the decision was based, or PAS/ list prices that are equivalent or lower.
